Planning and sequences

A playlist rotates content. A planning decides when which playlist or sequence plays. A sequence plays several playlists one after another, in a fixed order.

Creating a planning

  1. Go to Planning and click Create planning. The planning is called New planning, or New planning 2 if that name already exists. Click the name to change it; a name that is already in use is refused.
  2. Drag a playlist or a sequence from the list on the right to a day in the calendar. The block starts at the hour where you drop it and lasts eight hours.
  3. Drag the top or bottom edge of the block to make it longer or shorter. Or click the block and change Hours in the panel.
  4. In the panel, choose the Days: click Weekdays for Monday to Friday, or tick days.
  5. Under the calendar, choose what plays in the empty hours: a playlist, a sequence or nothing (the screen then stays black).
  6. Link the planning to a screen with the Push to screen button and click Publish N screens.

You make a fixed weekly rhythm in two steps: drag a playlist to Monday 09:00 and click Weekdays.

Two blocks cannot overlap. If you drop something on an hour that already has a block, the calendar says so and nothing happens.

Screen off

Screen off is at the bottom of the list on the right. Drag it to a day like a playlist: the block lasts nine hours and may run past midnight, for example from 22:00 to 07:00. In that time window the screen turns off, even if content is scheduled. See Turn a screen off on a schedule.

Example: A cafe:

  • 06:00 to 11:00 → Playlist Breakfast
  • 11:00 to 16:00 → Playlist Lunch
  • 16:00 to 23:00 → Playlist Evening
  • 23:00 to 06:00 → Screen off

Outside those hours, what you chose under the calendar for the empty hours plays.

Creating a sequence

  1. Go to Content › Sequences and click Create sequence.
  2. The sequence is called New Sequence, or New Sequence 2 if that name already exists. Click the name to change it; a name that is already in use is refused.
  3. Add playlists in the order you want.
  4. Link the sequence to a screen.

The player plays the first playlist in full, then the second, and so on. At the end the sequence starts over.

Example: An estate agent:

  1. Playlist New properties this week
  2. Playlist Top selection
  3. Playlist Services and team

One thing per screen

A screen plays one thing: a playlist, a sequence or a planning. Within a planning, the block that is in the calendar at that moment plays; Screen off wins over content.

What if it does not work

The sequence gets stuck on one playlist

Look at the duration of the first playlist. A sequence waits until a playlist has played in full before it moves on. A playlist with one long 20-minute video “blocks” the sequence until that video is done.

My planning does not play on the screen

Check that the planning is linked to the screen (the Push to screen button, or the Content section of the screen) and that you clicked Publish N screens afterwards. A block without content (hatched, “No content”) does not play: choose content or delete it.
