What is a template
A template is a reusable design where gibeon.io automatically inserts data from an integration. It is what sets us apart from classic signage software: you do not have to design a poster per property or per promotion. You design one template and the data fills in the rest.
How it works
A template defines:
- A layout (where the image goes, where the text, where the price)
- Fields that come from data (for example
{{title}},{{price}},{{images[0]}}) - Visual style: typography, colors, animation, corner overlays
When you link a template to a data item (for example a Whise property), gibeon.io fills in the fields automatically. If the price changes in Whise, the template adjusts without you having to change anything.
Why this makes a big difference
A traditional signage tool requires you to make every poster by hand. For a real estate agent with 50 properties, that is 50 posters you have to keep up to date. With templates you set up one well-working template, and all 50 properties immediately look consistent. Adding a new property in Whise = automatically on the screen.
Template library
gibeon.io ships a number of templates per vertical (real estate, retail, hospitality, office). In the CMS a template is called a layout: you find them under Design → Layouts, with My layouts and the Library. You can:
- Duplicate and adjust an existing template to your house style
- Upload a template of your own from scratch
- Filter per vertical and per orientation (landscape or portrait), in My layouts and in the Library
A copy from the Library remembers which layout it comes from. If that layout changes later, My layouts shows the notice Newer version of the original and the editor of your copy offers the button Make a new copy: it makes a new copy with the changes, and your existing copy stays as it is.
What a template is not
A template is not loose content. A template + data item = one scene that fits in a playlist. Without linked data, the template only shows its placeholder content (the so-called preview data).
