What is Mindbody?

Mindbody is a booking platform for fitness studios, yoga schools and wellness businesses. It handles memberships, drop-in visits, waiting lists and class schedules, with each booking tied to an instructor and a studio location. Most studios run it as the source of truth for everything that happens on the schedule. What it does not do well is show that schedule on a TV at the front desk. The app is built for staff and members on phones, not for a 43-inch screen in the lobby.

How gibeon.io connects

You authorize Gibeon against the Mindbody Public API v6 with read-only access. We pull class schedules, instructor info, capacity numbers and current booking status, then render them as a screen layout: time, class name, instructor photo, and spots left. Refresh runs every 15 minutes by default, and you can force a sync after a last-minute cancellation. Picture a yoga studio with 6 classes per day that wants the reception screen to show which classes today still have room and who the instructor is, pulled automatically from Mindbody. That is roughly the default template, and you can adjust it.

A few other ways people try to get Mindbody on a screen, and where each one breaks down:

MINDBODY BRANDED WEB APP IN A BROWSER KIOSK

Open the public schedule page in fullscreen Chrome on a mini-PC. Works for about a week, then the session logs out, a cookie banner appears, or someone alt-tabs to YouTube. You also get the full booking UI, which is too busy for a lobby screen and not readable from across the room.

CHROMECAST FROM A TABLET

Cast the Mindbody staff app or a browser tab from an iPad behind the desk. Cheap to set up, but the tablet has to stay awake and on the right screen. As soon as staff use it for check-ins, the cast drops.

STATIC PDF SCHEDULE PRINTED WEEKLY

Export the week, design it in Canva, print it, tape it to the wall. Zero tech risk. But the waiting list moves all day, the 7pm HIIT fills up by noon, and your printed sheet is lying to people within hours.

GIBEON

Connect Mindbody once, pick a template, plug a Xiaomi TV Stick or iiyama signage screen into the TV at reception. The schedule updates itself, instructor photos load from your Mindbody profiles, and capacity drops in real time as members book. 3 screens are free forever on the free tier with one integration, so a single-location studio with a reception screen, a kleedkamer screen and a back-office monitor can run the whole setup without paying. Starter at €39/month removes the watermark and gives you 5 screens at 1080p.

Frequently asked questions

What if my network drops, does the screen go black?

No. Gibeon caches the last synced schedule on the device, so the screen keeps showing classes even if Wi-Fi is down. Once the connection returns, it syncs again. Worst case you show a class list that is a few hours stale, not a blank TV.

Can I show the waiting list count, not just spots left?

Yes. The Public API v6 exposes both capacity and waiting list size, so you can display either or both. A crossfit box that wants the schedule for the next three hours on the entrance screen with the current waiting list stand is a setup we see a lot.

Do members see anything private, like names of who booked?

No. Gibeon only pulls aggregate fields: class name, time, instructor, capacity, booked count. No member names or contact details are sent to the screen.

We have multiple studio locations. Can each screen show its own schedule?

Yes. You assign a studio location to each screen, and Gibeon filters classes for that location. One Mindbody account, different screens per site.

How fast does a new booking show up on the screen?

Default sync is every 15 minutes. You can trigger a manual refresh from the dashboard or via the REST API, useful right before a popular class fills up.

Can we mix Mindbody with other content, like a promo for a workshop?

Yes. Add extra slides in the playlist: an image, a video, an Instagram feed. The Mindbody schedule rotates with the rest on a timer you set.

What hardware do we need?

Any TV with a Google TV built in works, or plug in a Xiaomi TV Stick, or use a browser-PC behind the screen. For a permanent reception install, an iiyama signage screen is the cleaner option.

Connect Mindbody, point a stick at the TV, done.
