Show Lightspeed on a TV screen

Yes, this works. Gibeon reads your Lightspeed K Series or Lightspeed Restaurant feed and pushes the menu-items, prices, allergens and dagsuggestie straight onto your entrance, toog and terrace screens, no PowerPoint export required.

Show Lightspeed on a TV screen?

Yes, this works. Gibeon reads your Lightspeed K Series or Lightspeed Restaurant feed and pushes the menu-items, prices, allergens and dagsuggestie straight onto your entrance, toog and terrace screens, no PowerPoint export required.

What is Lightspeed?

Lightspeed is a hospitality POS. The K Series (formerly iKentoo) and Lightspeed Restaurant handle orders, table plans and payments for cafés, brasseries and restaurants. Inside the back-office you maintain the menu structure, prices, happy hour windows, allergens and a daily dagsuggestie. That same data is what your guests want to see on the screen at the inkom, above the toog or on the terrace board, and Lightspeed already has it. The signage just has to follow.

How gibeon.io connects

Gibeon talks to the Lightspeed REST API with a read-only OAuth token. We pull menu-items, category trees, prices, allergens, happy hour blocks and the daily dagsuggestie. Webhooks notify us when you change something in the POS, and a polling cycle of about 15 minutes catches anything the webhook missed. You can also force a sync from the dashboard. On the screen side, pick a layout (gangenmenu board, drinks list with prices, dagsuggestie hero, allergen legend) and assign it to one or more devices. Change the soup of the day in K Series at 9am, the inkom screen reflects it before opening.

There are other ways to get a menu on a screen. Most of them work until the prices change.

EXPORTED PDF OR POWERPOINT ON A USB STICK

Print your menu to PDF, copy it to a USB, plug into the TV. Cheap and offline. The catch: every price change in Lightspeed means re-exporting, re-copying and walking around with a stick. Happy hour at 17:00? Someone has to swap files manually.

BROWSER KIOSK POINTING AT A LIGHTSPEED REPORT

Some teams open a Chrome kiosk on a mini-PC pointing at a custom Lightspeed report URL. It works for one screen in one location. Multi-vestiging gets painful fast, the browser falls asleep, and there is no scheduling between lunch and dinner cards.

GENERIC DIGITAL SIGNAGE CMS WITH A MANUAL MENU MODULE

Tools like ScreenCloud or Yodeck let you build menu boards by hand. Looks fine on day one. By month two, your POS and your signage have drifted apart because nobody re-typed the new wine vintage into the CMS.

GIBEON WITH A LIGHTSPEED POS-KOPPELING

One OAuth connection to K Series or Restaurant, the menu lives in Lightspeed as the single source. Take a brasserie owner who changes the dagsuggestie every morning in Lightspeed K Series and wants the inkom-scherm and toog-scherm to follow automatically, no PowerPoint re-export: that is the default flow here. Time-based rules switch between lunch-menu and diner-menu. Per-location price feeds for chains. Start with 3 screens free, one integration, REST API access. Move to Starter at €39/month for 5 screens, watermark removed and 1080p.

Frequently asked questions

What if my internet drops, does the screen go black?

No. Gibeon caches the last synced menu on the device. If the connection to Lightspeed or to our servers drops, the screen keeps showing the most recent menu, prices and dagsuggestie until the link is back. You only lose the ability to push new changes, not what is already displayed.

We have a chain with different prices per location. Can one template serve all of them?

Yes. You build one menu-template in Gibeon and bind each screen to a specific Lightspeed location. Each device pulls its own price and happy hour feed from the matching venue in Lightspeed, so a Ghent screen shows Ghent prices and a Brussels screen shows Brussels prices, same layout.

Can I switch between a lunch menu and dinner menu automatically?

Yes. Set time rules per screen: lunch-menu from 11:30 to 14:30, diner-menu from 17:30 to 22:00, both pulling from Lightspeed as the source. The switch happens on the device without anyone touching a remote.

Does this work with Lightspeed Retail too?

Lightspeed Retail is a separate product for shops, not the same API as K Series or Restaurant. For retail screens with product feeds, see our Shopify-for-retail page, which covers the equivalent flow. K Series, iKentoo and Lightspeed Restaurant are all supported here.

What hardware do I need at the toog?

Anything reasonable. A Smart TV with Google TV, a Xiaomi TV Stick behind the screen, a browser PC, or a dedicated iiyama signage panel. We do not sell hardware, we run on what you have.

How fast does a price change in Lightspeed reach the screen?

Usually within a few seconds via webhook, with a polling backup every 15 minutes. If you want it instant, hit the manual sync button in the dashboard and the device refreshes immediately.

Do allergens show up automatically?

Yes. If you maintain allergens per menu-item in Lightspeed, Gibeon reads them and you can show them as icons next to each dish or as a separate legend block on the screen.

Connect Lightspeed, point at a screen, see if it sticks.
