Xibo gives you Layouts, Regions and DataSets. What it does not give you is a Whise connector. That gap is the whole story.
Xibo has been around since 2009 and the open-source crowd loves it for a reason. You can self-host the CMS on-prem, or run it on Xibo Cloud if you would rather not babysit a server. The Layout Designer is genuinely flexible: split a screen into Regions, drop in a Playlist, schedule it across Displays with a Display Profile per location. The Module Store keeps growing, and DataSets let a technical user pipe in almost any tabular feed. For an IT team that wants full control over a signage stack, Xibo is a fair pick.
Belgian agencies do not run on tabular feeds, they run on Whise pandfiches. Take a kantoor in Brugge with 80 panden in portefeuille and 3 etalageschermen: every time the vraagprijs drops, a status flips to verkocht onder voorbehoud, or a new EPC-label gets filled in on Friday evening, the window screen should reflect it on Monday morning without anyone touching a spreadsheet. A native Whise link reads the dossier directly, including kadastraal inkomen and the photo set, so the receptionist is not exporting CSVs at 8am.
Gibeon is a Whise-partner listed in the Whise Marketplace, and the sync runs on Whise's public API, the same one they actively invite partners to build on. Every 15 minutes we pull the fields that matter for a window screen: address, price, bedrooms, surface, EPC-label, status (te koop, te huur, verkocht onder voorbehoud), and the first 5 photos from the pandfiche. If your internet drops or Whise has a hiccup, the last cached snapshot keeps playing on the screen, so a prospect walking past the etalage never sees a blank panel. No. Keep Xibo for what it does well. Gibeon handles the window screens that show Whise panden, Xibo keeps doing the internal stuff. Two tools, two jobs. Most agencies that come to us land on this split within a week of trying to force Whise data into a DataSet.
Technically yes. You would write the API client, map every field, design a Layout per property type, handle photo caching, and maintain it whenever Whise updates the dossier schema. Doable. But you are now running a small dev project instead of selling houses. Gibeon ships that piece, kept current, for less than a developer-day per month.
Whise stores descriptions per language on the pandfiche, and Gibeon picks them up. You can run a bilingual Layout, alternate per slide, or split two screens, one NL, one FR. Address, EPC-label and price stay identical, only the narrative text switches.
